Description
A homeowner in Keilor had a functional bathroom that no longer matched how they lived or the quality of finishes in the rest of their home. The built-in corner bath dominated the room, the layout felt enclosed, and the dated tiles and fixtures made the space feel smaller than it was. They wanted a bathroom that felt like a sanctuary: open, light filled, and refined without being overly designed. Working within the existing 3.3m x 2.7m footprint, the challenge was to create a sense of space and calm while introducing warmth through natural materials and thoughtful details.
Gidaya Group approached this transformation by removing the corner bath and repositioning a sculptural freestanding bath to maximize natural light from the window. This single move opened up the room and created a focal point that anchors the space. A wall hung fluted timber vanity with twin vessel basins introduces warmth and keeps the floor clear, making the room feel more generous. Large format stone look tiles in a soft neutral tone run continuously across floors and walls, creating visual calm. The frameless shower includes a recessed niche with integrated lighting, and carefully positioned wall lighting supports the daily routine. Brushed metal fixtures and a heated towel rail add functional refinement without visual noise.
The result is a bathroom that feels twice its size: open, warm, and grounded, with materials chosen to age gracefully and details that support everyday comfort.
