Neville St
Description
Neville Street is a light-filled renovation project that reinterprets classic Melbourne residential character with a contemporary sensibility. The home is transformed through a series of intentional architectural moves that connect internal spaces to the outdoors and celebrate natural light, airflow, and simplicity.
At its heart is an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining zone that flows directly onto a north-facing backyard. Large black-framed windows and sliding glass doors are used to great effect here, drawing in sunlight and enhancing visual transparency throughout the floor plan. This connection to the landscape anchors the home, making the garden feel like a natural extension of the living space.
The interior palette is calm and cohesive—a balance of soft whites, timber textures, and tactile finishes that provide warmth without excess. Subtle ceiling details and restrained decorative elements, like the retained plasterwork and a statement chandelier in the front living room, reference the original heritage of the home while embracing modern minimalism.
The kitchen continues this design language with clean-lined cabinetry, natural-toned accents, and a practical island bench that serves as both prep space and a social hub. Flow and function are prioritised, with all elements carefully considered to support ease of daily living.
In the private zones, bedrooms are styled with a focus on comfort and natural light, while a dedicated study with focused glazing offers a calm workspace away from the main activity zones. The bathroom is detailed with simplicity and longevity in mind—featuring a walk-in, frameless glass shower, dual wall niches, and a neutral tile palette.
Neville Street exemplifies Gidaya Group’s approach to thoughtful, enduring renovation. It honours the past while confidently looking forward, offering its occupants a space that is both serene and highly functional.
