Description

At Waratah Street, the brief was clear but complex: design homes that optimise natural light within a south-facing site while adhering to the constraints of urban residential zoning. Gidaya Group approached this challenge with a deliberate sensitivity to both environment and experience.

The design orients interior living around a central spine, allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the home via strategically placed windows, internal voids, and glazed doors. This light choreography not only brightens the interior but also enhances cross-flow ventilation—encouraging passive cooling and reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Outside, the pitched roofs and textured timber cladding speak to the architectural character of the neighbourhood, grounding the homes in place while offering a refined, modern expression. Internally, natural finishes, efficient appliances, and low-impact materials support a future-focused way of living.

Sustainability is embedded rather than added on, with an emphasis on reducing operational energy and water use while ensuring enduring comfort. Waratah Street is a quiet example of how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living through performance, simplicity, and spatial clarity.
