A couple in Sunshine had purchased a heritage style home with good bones but a layout that didn't support how they wanted to live. The existing floor plan felt compartmentalised, with small rooms that didn't flow well and limited natural light reaching the centre of the home. They needed structural work to open up the interior, create a modern family living zone, and bring in more daylight without losing the character of the original home. The renovation needed to be done properly, with engineered solutions that would last and finishes that felt elevated but practical for daily life.
Gidaya Group approached this luxury renovation by working with structural engineers to design a new timber frame that could support the removal of internal walls and create generous family, dining, and kitchen spaces. Engineered timber beams and steel lintels carry the structural load, allowing the new layout to centre on an open plan family, dining, and kitchen zone that connects four bedrooms, a master suite with ensuite, and a redesigned bathroom. Skylights were installed to bring natural light into the bathroom and other internal spaces, while double glazing throughout provides thermal comfort and noise reduction. The kitchen pairs stone benchtops with quality cabinetry and integrated appliances for everyday use, while bathrooms use neutral tiling and quality fixtures that age well.
The result is a home that feels open and light filled, with a layout that works for family life and structural upgrades designed to perform quietly for decades. Heritage character is preserved where it matters, paired with the modern function the family needed.
