Description
A family in Melbourne's west had a home in an established suburb with excellent schools, major shopping centres nearby, and direct rail access to the city. The home worked well enough but didn't reflect how they wanted to live as the area around them continued to grow and mature. The original garage sat separately from the main dwelling, creating thermal inefficiency and a disjointed feeling. The kitchen and bathrooms were functional but dated, and the layout didn't support how they entertained or moved through their daily routines. With strong local amenity and infrastructure already in place, they saw an opportunity to invest in their home rather than move. They wanted a renovation that would modernize the interiors with quality finishes, integrate the garage properly, and add an outdoor pergola for year round use.
Gidaya Group approached this renovation by enclosing and integrating the original garage into the main dwelling, creating a more cohesive thermal envelope and improving overall comfort. During the approval process, we repositioned the planned outdoor pergola to keep the project moving efficiently. Inside, we installed Vienna Oak flooring with skirting added after the floor to maintain clean junctions. The kitchen was rebuilt around a generous stone island with waterfall edges, paired with white cabinetry and timber joinery for warmth. Bathrooms were updated with neutral tiling, a freestanding bath positioned beneath a large window, semi frameless shower detailing, and brushed nickel fixtures.
The result is a home that feels calm, cohesive, and built for how the family actually lives, with details that elevate everyday comfort.
